As a sorority woman, I fully support the greek system. I encourage all young women to go greek. It's not about buying your friends and getting wasted or being a slut -- all the typical stereotypes for me it is about a special bond! Sure all the activities, parties, swaps and formals were fun and eating at the sorority house everyday was delicious {sometimes}. but being in a sorority is SO MUCH MORE! It's also about philanthropy and raising money for a greater good. It's about forming lifelong friendships, having a home away from home and promotes scholarship!
That being said, I have to share a funny. You have probably seen it... Alabama's Panhellenic Exec video that went VIRAL last week.
It's insanely AWFUL but I am still proud to be a Bama greek alum. Who cares our PAN X can't rap? We hands down have one of the strongest greek systems in the nation. Also so proud of my sisters & their 101 baby g-phi's. My favorite part is the beginning "why would you wanna be on the outside of the row??" SOOOO true at Alabama.
Roll Tide and Go Greek!
If you are going through rush or have already, good luck and I hope it was everything you wanted to be and a positive experience. Remember: focus on the positives and not the negatives, don't give into stereotyping sororities, do not judge a sorority by it's "cover", be open minded, remember even though rush is a "mutual" selection just because you aren't asked back to a house doesn't mean they did not like you (so much goes on behind the scenes and with panhellenic that you don't even know til you are on the OTHER SIDE), stay cool, drink lots of water and most of all have fun and live it up! Sorority life can be the best or the worst, it's all up to what you make it.

I totally agree. I am so, so, so glad I went greek and I wouldn't trade being a tridelta for anything in the world :)
Cute video!! I hate I didnt go greek when I was in college. :(
Oh I was so EMBARRASSED when I saw that video last week! One of my pledge sisters said on FB "I hope any Alpha Gams weren't hurt in the making of that video." HA. Anyway, I still support the Greek system- as you know it is a BIG deal at Alabama. I don't think a lot of people realize it. P.S. Did you see the pictures of the tents with fans outside the houses?? SO UNFAIR! We had to sweat it out without the help of those.. and did girls stop wearing white on Ice Water Tea days? I basically saw no white dress pictures...
I love being Greek. We seriously take such a beating, but I wouldn't trade the experiences or my sisters for anything. I also believe we have more opportunities than anyone else! And about the dress, she said TTS in the hips, a little roomy in the top. The sequins make it dressier than most Lilly dresses, but it is dressy for a nice wedding, etc. not formal.
