Something really pinteresting

Love Love Love this link up with The Vintage Apple

These are a few of my favorite {pinterest} things :)

Today I am going to theme it with wedding photography. I found found some of the CUTEST ideas for wedding pictures on pinterest. Not that a wedding is any where in my near future but I like to get ideas for *one day*

um how cahyute is this?

this is a total-Lindsey-move right here. My and my BM's are so doing this.

Love the boots. Perfect for a spring wedding. I love the waist down pictures. You see dress, flowers, shoes, everything but face... cool concept!

Hilarious and awesome wedding favor.

So cute.

Adorable {ringbear + flowegirl}

Not only do I love the tutu for flower girl here but I love the dress and color for the BM's

Sneaky sneaky.
This picture reminds me of being in Amber's wedding {because of the dress color and length}

I really like this casual, not planned picture catching everyone in teh moment. I also love how the bridesmaids are all in the color spectra {but various shades} and all embracing their OWN style.
I really like the brides dress as well. Simple and elegant.

All in all, I love weddings!

My Dixieland Delight

You know it's 4th quarter in Bryant Denny Stadium when you hear Dixieland Delight.

I can't believe football season starts Saturday. Time flies, I feel like I was just at the Iron Bowl a couple months ago.

Before we get into the thick of football season I wanted to take a little time to give you the tour of Tuscaloosa. Tuscaloosa is not your normal college town. It is dripping with history, tradition and  most importantly southern charm. There is something in the air, whether you are on Bryant Drive, The Strip or University Boulevard that makes you want to stay... stay forever.

It undoubtably has everything any other college town has to offer, and so much more.

The Quad on Game Day

{It's so fun but insane crowded at times especially when everyone gathers to hear the Million Dollar Band play. Covered in people and covered in tents!}

Million Dollar Band

{they are called the Million Dollar Band because at a time in history the football team wasn't worth squat but the band was so amazing so they said the band was worth a million dollars}

These are just some of my favorite traditions in Tuscaloosa. I am ready so for the Tide to Roll on Saturday. I am prepared for a fantastic game day even though I will not be attending the game {it's too hot! it's one of the couple of home games I will not be at}

I apologize in advance for all the football related posts in weeks to come. If you don't like football -- I am sorry. Also to any Auburn fans I might have following me, let's refrain from distasteful comments and play nicely. I will do the same in return.

It is super important in a football crazed state to remember this during football season:
Keep It Classy, Alabama and ROLL TIDE ROLL!

Priorities

This past week I started thinking about prioritizing things. I though about all the things just in the past year I have said I was going to do or even thought about and did not do yet. I realized I was a complete slacker.

After beating myself up over being a total slacker, I took the initiative. I have started making a list of things that I want NEED {and a few wants} to do before the end of 2011.

They are as follows:

1. Study for the GRE
2. Take the GRE
3. Apply to graduate school for the spring {part-time for now}
4. Run the Susan G. Komen Race for The Cure
5. Take yoga classes
6. Get out of my comfort zone.
7. Read more books
8. Blog More!

Ready. Set. GO! I am ready to tackle this list.... I am doing some revisions to my bucket list. Expect a post soon.

Accent Vlog :)

Y'all I decided to do an accent vlog :)

Don't hate on me ok... I can't help my voice... I am from Al-uh-bam-uh

Here is the list of words you have to say:

aunt, route, wash, oil, theatre, iron, salmon, caramel, fire, water, sure, data, ruin, crayon, toilet, New Orleans, pecan, both, again, probably, spitting image, Alabama, lawyer, coupon, mayonnaise, syrup, pajamas, caught

The questions are as follows:

What is it called when you throw toilet paper on someone's house?
What is the bug that when you touch it, it rolls into a ball?
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say to address a large group of people?
What do you call a spider that has an oval shaped body with extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What do you call the wheeled contraption you carry groceries at the supermarket?
What do you call it when it rains while the sun is shining?
What is the thing you change the tv channel with?

This Pinterests Me.

The funny thing about this post is that I promised myself that I was not going to give into Pinterest. I thought to myself, "the last thing I need is another distraction and way to waste my time." Well, exactly one week ago I gave in..... now I can't get enough. Great.

So here I am, blogging about the thing I said I wasn't going to do and showing you my favorite little things from Pinterest (only the most fabulous site ever). I have found so many cool things on there. Things I want to eat. Things I want to make. Things that are pretty. Things that are funny. Things I want in my home... ok, you get the picture.

Go Greek!!

It's that time of year again... Recruitment! Alabama's recruitment just ended as well as rush for a lot of others. It's been a plethora of rush and bid day mania on my facebook.

As a sorority woman, I fully support the greek system. I encourage all young women to go greek. It's not about buying your friends and getting wasted or being a slut -- all the typical stereotypes for me it is about a special bond! Sure all the activities, parties, swaps and formals were fun and eating at the sorority house everyday was delicious {sometimes}. but being in a sorority is SO MUCH MORE! It's also about philanthropy and raising money for a greater good. It's about forming lifelong friendships, having a home away from home and promotes scholarship!

That being said, I have to share a funny. You have probably seen it... Alabama's Panhellenic Exec video that went VIRAL last week.

It's insanely AWFUL but I am still proud to be a Bama greek alum. Who cares our PAN X can't rap? We hands down have one of the strongest greek systems in the nation.  Also so proud of my sisters & their 101 baby g-phi's. My favorite part is the beginning "why would you wanna be on the outside of the row??" SOOOO true at Alabama.

Roll Tide and Go Greek!

If you are going through rush or have already, good luck and I hope it was everything you wanted to be and a positive experience. Remember: focus on the positives and not the negatives, don't give into stereotyping sororities, do not judge a sorority by it's "cover", be open minded, remember even though rush is a "mutual" selection just because you aren't asked back to a house doesn't mean they did not like you (so much goes on behind the scenes and with panhellenic that you don't even know til you are on the OTHER SIDE),  stay cool, drink lots of water and most of all have fun and live it up! Sorority life can be the best or the worst, it's all up to what you make it.

Look for less: Nail polish

I have expressed before, I love nail polish. I can credit a large portion of this to my dear friend Amy Marie. She always wears the most FUN nail polish colors and I never thought I could get away with it until we were in Disney over a year ago and I let her paint my nails. Well, it's been downhill since then and I almost always have my nails painted.

Like every other aspect of my life, I also love glitter on my nails. It's just so much fun! I knew when I saw this Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday polish it was TDF.

So pretty, all colors of glitter! It reminds me of sprinkles on a cupcake or birthday cake. This polish rings it at $18.00 if you are lucky enough to find it, sold out many places online. I don't normally spend that much money on nail polish. $10 is pretty norm.

Then I was in Sephora and was looking at the OPI Sephora collection and saw the Sparktacular Top Coat and knew it was a match made in look-for-less heaven

Agree?

**Please excuse my poor paint job (trying to paint fast) , not very good picture (camera phone and weird flash) and my chub-a-dub fingers but maybe you get the point?

This one is only available at Sephora and was $9.50 making this look for less a savings of $8.50

cha-ching! Super duper happy to found this :) This polish is just so darn fun. It makes me want to sing  Ke$ha song "go insane, go insane throw some glitter make it rain"

At the risk of sounding like a fat kid

Can we please talk about gourmet cupcakes?

We have a few nice bakeries here in Birmingham but we recently got a Gigi's Cupcakes
near my office. OMG they are sooooo good. This is very bad for my pending diet.

Shamefully, I even have a cupcake card to get stamped. I look forward to getting my free cupcake.

I have only actually gotten myself a cupcake from there once... ok twice... three times. But somehow they have also fenagled their way into the office for going away parties, birthdays AND a hotel brought them to us. How am I suppose to get my fitness on with Gigi's cupcakes staring at me?

I have tried...

Am I the only gluttonous, cupcake crazed fool? Please tell me I am NOT alone and that you all love Gigi's as much as I do. The cupcakes are TDF I tell you!

Roll Tide'ing

Tomorrow marks exactly 2 WEEKS until Alabama football. I. am. so. ready!

I wanted all of you to know; I found this lovely little blog, The Belles of Saturday
and it is getting me pumped. The precious Jana and Ashton have created this
fab blog devoted to us Southern Football Lovin' Girls.

My football posts will probably start becoming more frequent as I go to {almost} every home game and if I am not there I am watching. I will have my own gameday outfits to share after every weekend. GET READY! I am so excited.  To start off the season, I am going to share some of my favorite Bama gameday fashions.

I love this beautiful Elizabeth McKay blouse, too presh. I am thinking of purchasing. As a Republican, I could get a lot of use out of this....wearing with a navy skirt on election days?

I absolutely love all 3 of the above Judith March dresses. The last would be so cute with tights and boots for a colder game. I did not post the front of the ones with the back detail but the crissy cross back/short sleeve had the cutest front. I feel a second job coming on.

Of course the wonderful Tracy Negoshian always has something pretty to look at :) These dresses have a touch of black but I think they are still pretty good choices for a Bama game.

How cute is this Crimson and White Seersucker dress from The Shirt Shop? They have tons of other Game day fashion to chose from. They also have a lot of Leona wear.
I love skirts so this Houndstooth skirt with embroidered red elephants from The Locker Room would  be perfect for me :) This skirt also comes in khaki!

How stinkin' cute {but impractical} are these? Holy Alabama Cow girl boots!

And for those cool November games... this houndstooth coat from The Locker Room is a staple.

Add any of these fashions with a shaker (red and white or the newer houndstooth ones) and a yellow hammer from Galette's and you are good to go!

Oh! and Don't forget your flask!
a houndstooth one like this Smathers & Branson one is perf for every Bama guy or gal.

Tune in NEXT WEEK for an overview of the greatest college town in the SEC, Tuscaloosa. Can't wait to share about all my favorite things about Tuscaloosa and talk about Fraternities, Sororities, Tradtions and the T-Town bar scene.

Roll Tide Roll!

Countdown to Disney World

I am now 27 days out from my next Disney World adventure! I can't wait!

I am so excited about this trip because I have never been to Disney in the "fall" or really anytime other than Spring or Summer except those 2 days in December.

What makes this a really special time to go is it's the first week of the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party! One of my bucketlist goals is to go to every Disney park but another goal is to go at every special event/holiday and this is another one off the list.

I have done a lot of reading on the MNSSHP and heard it's well worth the extra money. You have to buy a ticket to this Magic Kingdom event and it's about $40 I think, I can't remember. But on the day of the party, the MK closes at 6 or 7 I believe and only ticket holders are allowed in the park for the parade, party, trick or treating, special fireworks and you can still ride the rides and there are tons of characters to meet & greet with. Basically you can get A LOT done cause there are not as many people in the parks.

I am very excited about all the Halloween decorations that will be all over the park and also excited about seeing the headless horseman in the parade. I have heard it's a must- see!

Have any of you ever been to Disney at Halloween?

While I run...

Since I stopped the running gig (temporarily) due to deathly and smoldering Alabama heats this summer I have since purchased an elliptical AND joined the gym at my office for a mere $21 & some change a month. There is no excuse and I repeat NONE why my hiney shouldn't be working it like I'm Missy Elliot everyday.

Which reminds me, I should pack mah workout gear and go for a brisk walk while watching the soaps on my lunch break tomorrow.

I WILL BE RUNNING THE SUSAN G. KOMEN RACE FOR THE CURE THIS OCTOBER, no freaking excuses. It will be lovely running weather and gives me time between now and then to start training... from the beginning.

So to get me back in my workout routine I have started gathering inspiration from everywhere (blogs, twitter, magazines, radio, my sister, etc) and compiling a pretty bad-azz playlist to get my fitness on to. It's kinda random with some songs but for me to get a hard core workout in, I need songs that I like the beat.

1. Party Rock Anthem - LMFAO
2. Who Says - Selena Gomez
3. Dog Days Are Over - Florence and The Machine
4. Lip Gloss - Lil Mama
5. Cat Daddy - The Rej3ctz
6. Good Life - One Republic
7. Let Me Take You Out - Bryan J.
8. Bow Chicka Wow Wow - Mike Posner
9. Teach Me How To Dougie - California Swag District
10.Don't Wanna Go Home - Jason DeRulo

Give me some more ideas!

A couple weeks ago I ordered a Bondi Band... any of you use one? They are suppose to be awesome for running so I assumed working out in general as well. My hair is short so it never stays but but the Bondi Band seriously makes me look like a freak, not that I am trying to look modelish while getting a sweat on but still. Imagine my chubby face with all my hair slicked back and looking like I had no hair. Not cute, but I guess since it gets the job done -- aka keep hair away from face and sweat out of face... I will still use it. Any input on Bondi band? I will be sure to take a horrifying picture the first time I wear mine. It's black with a gold Fleur De Lis on it... Geaux Saints (and I just really like Fleur de lis). They had an Alabama one but it was ghetto looking. It said Roll Tide in times new roman or some generic font and I am not down with that (graphic designer obsessiveness comes in).

Now cold weather isn't for a while here in Sweet Home Alabama buuut I am starting to try and get some ideas for colder weather running gear. The few times I ran in the cold during late spring did not work out so well for me :'( so I am really not looking forward to this. Except finding cute clothes to wear whilst doing said running. I have heard awesome things about Lululemon! I am thinking about the Run Inspire or Run for your life crop pants.

Run Inspire Crop Pants

and totally digging these

Groove Crop Yoga Pants

Y'all on the NORM I would NEVER spend this much money on workout apparel but literally everyone talks about Lululemon so I need to know -- is it worth the moolah?

I also feel as if I will need a new cap to wear. My old Alabama one has seen it's finer days since I purchase it in HIGH SCHOOL (that was over 5 years ago, freaky!)

I see the cute Nike ones in Academy or I could just get a Vineyard Vines one or similar.

Opinions?

Help me out :)

Snapshots

I am in desperate need of a new camera! I need to get back to documenting my life :)

Mine is almost 3 years old (I know that's not old but the picture quality seriously bites, I have no clue why I thought it use to take such great pics?) and I am ready to upgrade.

I need a camera that has all of these qualities:
compact enough to fit in a purse - I'd like a Nikon D40 or a Canon Rebel to take fantastic photos with but let's face it, my purse is heavy enough and most aren't big enough for this size camera. I don't need to tote a camera bag around. I would feel like a bag lady
takes quality pictures - this speaks for itself. So many point and shoot cameras produce horrible quality pictures that aren't worthy of facebook or twitter much less my blog.
not too pricey - as a struggling post-grad with a job in the economic recession, I need to keep the cost friendly. Let's say in the $200 range? I just know there is little to NOTHING for less than that. My crap camera I have now cost almost that much.

I am open to any and all suggestions. Help me out, blog friends! I trust you with all kinds of advice so hit me with your best shot. What kinds of cameras do you all use?

Just Throw it in the bag.

So I have seen this post done tons of time but never done it myself. What's in your bag?

I never even thought about doing this post until I picked up my purse the other day and as the handles nearly slipped from my hand for being so heavy and I thought to myself, "What the heck is in here?" So now I am sharing ... the inside of my purse.

Currently carrying my LV Damier Azur speedy

and this is why my purse was so darn heavy....

the contenst:
HOBO Lauren Wallet (cram packed with cards/checkbook)
Keys
Sunglasses
2 Lilly Koozies
Tanning lotion
Pacifica Body Butter
Sunglasses
Mally zip make up bag full of various lip gloss
EOS Lip balm
Luggage Tag
Bare Minerals makeup brush

Nothing too out of the ordinary but the body butter and the tanning lotion were DEFINITELY what was weighing down my purse!
